Plot: Airplane 1980 is one of the most iconic comedy films of the decade. Directed by Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers, the movie spoofs disaster films of the 1970s with a nonstop barrage of jokes, sight gags, and deadpan humor. It tells the story of a former fighter pilot who must overcome his fear of flying to land a commercial jet after the crew falls ill mid flight.

The film stars Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, and Leslie Nielsen in his breakout comedic role. Airplane blends absurdity with clever writing, delivering one of the fastest joke-per-minute scripts in movie history. From inflatable autopilots to confused passengers, every scene is packed with laughs.

A parody of the 1957 film Zero Hour, Airplane became a surprise hit and launched a wave of spoof movies that followed. It was a major box office success and has since earned a place on many lists of the funniest films ever made.

Airplane 1980 remains a favorite for its quotable lines, over the top characters, and fearless approach to comedy. It is a perfect pick for fans of slapstick humor and classic 80s movies that never take themselves too seriously.

Airplane is a comedy classic. It’s probably one of my favorite 80’s comedy movies. I like that Leslie Nielsen and even the jive lady Barbara Billingsley from Leave it to Beaver. I had no idea that Jonathan Banks (Gunderson) from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul starred in it.
