Long before cinematic soundtracks and full orchestras, 80s video game music had to make magic with a handful of electronic notes. Yet somehow, those catchy loops and jingles became burned into our brains.
From the opening tune of Super Mario Bros to the pulse-pounding intensity of Contra or the eerie hum of Metroid, the music added just as much atmosphere as the gameplay.
Which 80s video game track still plays in your head today? Was there a theme that gave you chills, got you pumped up, or made you hit reset just to hear it again?
For me it's Super Mario Bros. It was so simple but yet so catchy. I remember one night back when I was a kid I had a dream that I was stuck in the underground scene in between two walls of bricks and the the song kept playing over and over in my head. It a fever induced dream lol.
