Released in 1984 for the Amstrad CPC, 3D Monster Chase was a tense and atmospheric first person maze game that blended exploration with strategy. Developed by Romik Software, players were thrown into a series of dark corridors filled with lurking monsters and ticking bombs. Your mission was simple in theory but intense in execution: find three randomly placed bombs across different levels of a labyrinthine military base and defuse them before time runs out.

The game used a unique first person perspective that added to the suspense. As players searched each level, they had to collect colored keys to access elevators and navigate between floors. With every step, the monsters became more aggressive and the challenge ramped up. The limited field of vision meant that danger could strike from anywhere, keeping players constantly on edge.

3D Monster Chase is remembered as an early attempt to bring immersive 3D gameplay to home computers. While primitive by modern standards, its eerie atmosphere and innovative perspective helped it stand out in the crowded field of mid 80s computer games.

3D Monster Chase was one of the few early games to feature a multi-level structure with working elevators and a keycard access system, laying the groundwork for future sci fi and horror themed first person titles.
