On This Day: May 10, 1985 - Rustlers' Rhapsody Premieres in Theaters
On this day May 10, 1985, Rustlers' Rhapsody premiered in theaters. Directed by Hugh Wilson, the film was a comedic sendup of classic westerns and starred Tom Berenger as a clean cut singing cowboy who rides into a town full of corruption and quirky characters. The cast also included Patrick Wayne, Marilu Henner, G.W. Bailey, Fernando Rey, and Andy Griffith.

With its over the top satire and old school style, the movie poked fun at the conventions of the genre while celebrating them at the same time. Rustlers' Rhapsody was made on a budget of 5.5 million dollars and earned 6 million at the box office.

Fun fact: The film intentionally used bright Technicolor style visuals and traditional western music to mimic the look and feel of 1950s B movies.
