On this day March 27 1988 WrestleMania IV took place in Atlantic City New Jersey delivering one of the most memorable nights in 80s wrestling. The main event saw Randy Macho Man Savage defeat The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase to win the WWF Heavyweight Championship in the final round of a massive one night tournament.

Savage fought through four matches to claim the title and was joined in victory by Miss Elizabeth and Hulk Hogan who helped even the odds during the final bout. The win marked a defining moment in Savage’s career and solidified his place as a top WWF superstar. Also on the card Demolition (Ax and Smash) defeated Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana) to win the WWF Tag Team Championship in a hard hitting matchup that kicked off a dominant run for the team.
