On This Day: March 1 1989 Hard Time on Planet Earth Premiered on CBS
On this day March 1 1989 Hard Time on Planet Earth premiered on CBS. The sci fi adventure series followed an alien warrior who was exiled to Earth as a form of punishment. Taking the human form of a man named Jesse he was assigned a robotic floating companion named Control who guided him through life on Earth while monitoring his rehabilitation.

Jesse struggled to understand human behavior while using his enhanced abilities to help people in need. The show blended action humor and fish out of water scenarios as Jesse adapted to Earth’s customs and tried to redeem himself.

Hard Time on Planet Earth aired for one season with thirteen episodes but failed to attract a large audience. Despite its short run it gained a small cult following for its unique premise and blend of action and comedy.

Fun fact: The actor who played Jesse Martin Kove was best known for his role as John Kreese the ruthless Cobra Kai sensei in The Karate Kid films.

Trivia question: Martin Kove reprised his role as John Kreese in a popular television series decades after The Karate Kid films. Can you name the show
