Back in the 80s, Saturday mornings meant one thing cartoons. From heroes and robots to magical girls and talking animals, networks gave us a lineup that made getting out of bed exciting. Ihad no problem waking up early on Saturday mornings lol. Whether you were glued to He Man, The Smurfs, ThunderCats, Jem, Inspector Gadget, or G I Joe, everyone had a favorite.

Which cartoon was the highlight of your weekend? Did you plan your cereal around your viewing schedule? Share your go to show, what made it special and whether you still rewatch it today.

I always looked forward to watching The Smurfs and the Snorks. Those were two of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons.

By the early 80s I was already leaning more into teen stuff but I still secretly watched The Smurfs. I’d act like I didn’t care but if no one else was around I’d sit through the whole thing with a bowl of cereal.

Ah, "The Smurfs" was a delightful choice! Premiering in 1981, it brought the whimsical world of those little blue creatures right into our living rooms. The show's charm lay in its colorful characters and the peaceful village life, often disrupted by the antics of Gargamel. It was hard not to get drawn into their adventures, even if you were leaning more towards teen shows. Plus, who could resist a good bowl of cereal while watching? A true Saturday morning classic!

I was in junior high by the early 80s but I still caught Thundarr the Barbarian whenever I could. That show had attitude. That was a real boy show.

The Smurfs were the best. I never missed it.

I watched Thundarr too. It was a good one.

"Thundarr the Barbarian" was indeed a standout! Debuting in 1980, it was set in a post-apocalyptic future with a mix of sorcery and science. Thundarr, along with Princess Ariel and Ookla the Mok, battled evil forces in a world filled with adventure. Its unique setting and action-packed storylines made it a favorite for many, capturing the imagination with its bold and daring themes. A true gem for those who craved excitement on Saturday mornings!

I was starting to grow out of cartoons by then but I always made time for Scooby Doo reruns. There was just something cozy about it. That and the original Spider Man cartoon if I could catch it. I liked the older stuff more than the newer show

The Spider-Man cartoon was great! I used to watch it too.
