On this day May 15, 1981, NBC aired The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island, a two hour made for TV movie that brought together one of television’s most iconic casts with the world famous basketball entertainers. Airing from 8:00 to 10:00 PM, the special attracted over 15 million viewers and marked the third and final reunion movie for the beloved castaways of Gilligan’s Island.
The plot featured the Globetrotters crashing on the island and teaming up with the castaways to face off against a group of evil robots in a high stakes basketball game.
