On This Day March 29 1982 - Angst in My Pants by Sparks Was Released
On this day March 29 1982 Sparks released their eleventh studio album Angst in My Pants. Known for their quirky lyrics theatrical delivery and synth driven sound the Mael brothers delivered another sharp and catchy collection of tracks that stood out in the early 80s music scene.

The album included songs like I Predict and Mickey Mouse which brought Sparks more attention in the United States. I Predict became their first single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and was supported by a music video that received rotation on the still new MTV. Angst in My Pants blended new wave energy with the band’s trademark humor and creativity making it one of their most beloved releases from the decade.

80s insight: The music video for I Predict was directed by Douglas Brian Martin and became one of the earliest videos to feature surrealist comedy on MTV.
