On this day March 18 1982 the rock supergroup Asia released their self-titled debut album. The album became an instant success reaching number one on the US Billboard 200 charts and also hitting number one in Canada.

Asia featured a blend of progressive rock and radio-friendly melodies led by standout tracks like Heat of the Moment and Only Time Will Tell. The band consisting of former members of Yes King Crimson and Emerson Lake & Palmer brought their experience together to create one of the best-selling albums of the early 80s.
