On this day February 25 1987 Frank Sinatra made a guest appearance on the hit television series Magnum PI. The episode titled Laura was notable not only for featuring the legendary singer and actor but also for being his final significant television appearance.

In the episode Sinatra played a retired New York cop named Sergeant Michael Doheny who arrives in Hawaii seeking justice for his murdered granddaughter. His character’s gritty determination and emotional depth stood out in the crime drama showcasing Sinatra’s acting talents one last time. Despite his reputation as a Hollywood and music icon Sinatra took the role seriously and was praised for his performance alongside Tom Selleck’s Thomas Magnum.
