On this day April 4 1986 the final episode of Knight Rider aired, bringing an end to one of the most iconic action series of the 80s. The show starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a crime fighter partnered with a high tech talking car named KITT.

Knight Rider ran for 4 seasons with a total of 90 episodes, blending futuristic gadgets, action-packed plots and a strong dose of cool 80s style. KITT, short for Knight Industries Two Thousand, was a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am outfitted with artificial intelligence and loaded with advanced features. The series left a major impact on pop culture and inspired several spin offs, reboots and decades of fan love.

80s insight: The voice of KITT was provided by actor William Daniels, who later became widely known as Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World.
