On This Day: April 29 1987 - Final Episode of Easy Street Aired
On this day April 29 1987, the final episode of Easy Street aired on NBC. The sitcom starred Loni Anderson as a newly wealthy widow who moves into a mansion with her blue collar family members, creating plenty of clashes between old habits and high society living. James Cromwell also co starred as a relative adjusting to the sudden lifestyle change.

Easy Street aimed to blend traditional family sitcom humor with a touch of Beverly Hills flair. Despite a strong cast and a fun premise, the show only lasted one season with just 22 episodes produced before it was canceled due to low ratings.

Today it remains a little known piece of 80s television history mostly remembered by fans of Loni Anderson’s work.

Fun fact: This was Loni Anderson’s first major TV role after her huge success playing Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP in Cincinnati.
