On this day April 10, 1984, the final episode of a.k.a. Pablo aired, ending its brief run after just one season and 6 episodes. The sitcom starred comedian Paul Rodriguez as Paul Rivera, a rising stand up comic trying to balance his career with the expectations and traditions of his close knit Mexican American family.

Created by Norman Lear, the show followed Paul as he navigated the tension between his on stage persona and his conservative upbringing. a.k.a. Pablo aimed to spotlight Latino culture and family dynamics with humor, but it struggled to find a wide audience and was pulled from the schedule shortly after it premiered. Even though it was short lived, the series marked one of the earliest attempts at showcasing a Latino lead in a prime time network sitcom during the 80s.
