On This Day April 1 1989 - Final Episode of She’s the Sheriff Aired
On this day April 1 1989 the final episode of the sitcom She’s the Sheriff aired. The show starred Suzanne Somers as Hildy Granger a widow who unexpectedly becomes sheriff of a small Nevada town after her husband passes away.

Running for 2 seasons with a total of 44 episodes the series was part of the first-run syndication wave in the late 80s. It leaned into lighthearted humor and the fish out of water dynamic as Hildy tried to gain the respect of her all male department.

While the show received mixed reviews it gave Suzanne Somers a return to television following her earlier fame from Three’s Company.

80s insight: She’s the Sheriff originally began development in the early 80s with actress Priscilla Barnes in mind but didn’t reach production until several years later with Suzanne Somers in the lead.
