You hear that jingle or the Mr. Softee melody in the distance and suddenly it’s a race to find change in the couch cushions.
What was your go to ice cream truck treat in the 80s?

Push-Up? Bomb Pop? Choco Taco? One of those weird cartoon face bars with gumball eyes? Mine was almost always a chocolate milkshake or a twin cone vanilla and chocolate soft ice cream.

I was all about the Screwball with the gum at the bottom. I’d get one after school if I had a couple quarters left over from lunch. Sometimes I’d walk with my friends to the park and we’d race to eat them before they turned into slush.

The ice cream man in our neighborhood always had a little bell instead of music. There was no Mr. Softee in my neighborhood ha. You heard that ring and it was like instant summer.

I don’t remember the Screwball. By not having a Mr. Softee you were robbed of your childhood. 😂

I went straight for the drumstick. No gimmicks no cartoon faces just ice cream with a crunch. Half the time the gumball eyes were frozen solid anyway. Give me something with peanuts and chocolate and I was good.

Do any of you remember the King cone? It was pretty good.

The Fudgesicle and drumstick were good. I also do remember the King Cone. It was similar to the drumstick.
