On August 7, 1987, the romantic comedy “Who’s That Girl” premiered, directed by James Foley. The film starred pop icon Madonna and actor Griffin Dunne. Despite its star power and a significant production budget of $18 million, “Who’s That Girl” underperformed at the box office, grossing only $7.3 million.

Fun Fact
“Who’s That Girl” features Madonna in one of her early acting roles, and although the film didn’t achieve commercial success, its soundtrack was popular. The title track, “Who’s That Girl,” became a hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
