On July 22, 1988, “Big Top Pee-Wee,” directed by Randal Kleiser, premiered in theaters. The film featured Paul Reubens in his iconic role as Pee-Wee Herman, alongside Kris Kristofferson, Susan Tyrrell, Penelope Ann Miller, and Valeria Golino. Despite having a budget of $20 million, the movie managed to earn $15.1 million at the box office. The film followed Pee-Wee Herman’s adventures in a circus, delivering the whimsical and quirky humor that fans had come to love.
