On this day, December 12, 1986, the hilarious Western comedy Three Amigos premiered in theaters. Directed by John Landis, the film starred Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short as three out-of-work silent film actors who are mistaken for real heroes and called upon to save a small Mexican village from a notorious bandit, El Guapo.

With its absurd humor, memorable musical numbers, and the undeniable chemistry of its three leads, Three Amigos became a cult classic. Although it earned $39.2 million at the box office, the film’s legacy has grown over the years, with fans still quoting its iconic lines and scenes.
