The Ramstein Air Disaster occurred on this day in 1988, marking one of the deadliest air show accidents in history. During a performance by the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian Air Force’s aerobatic demonstration team, three aircraft collided mid-air, resulting in a devastating crash. The tragedy claimed the lives of 75 people and left 346 others injured, shocking audiences and leading to significant changes in air show safety protocols worldwide.
