On this day, November 13, 1981, The Pursuit of D. B. Inspired by the real-life mystery of the infamous skyjacker D.B. Cooper, the film follows the fictionalized chase and escape of Cooper after his daring hijacking and disappearance. Despite a significant budget of $14 million, the movie brought in only $3.7 million at the box office but remains a unique piece of Hollywood’s take on an enduring mystery.
