On this day, October 31, 1989, The Grateful Dead released their 13th and final studio album, Built to Last. The album peaked at #27 on the Billboard charts and featured tracks that highlighted the band’s enduring creativity and musicianship. Formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1965, The Grateful Dead became a cornerstone of the counterculture movement, blending rock, folk, and psychedelic music.

Did you know? The Grateful Dead was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Unfortunately, just a year later, lead singer Jerry Garcia passed away at the age of 53 from a heart attack, marking the end of an era for the band and their fans.

Who remembers Built to Last? Did you follow The Grateful Dead through their final album release?
