On this day, December 18, 1986, the final episode of Spiral Zone aired in syndication. The animated sci-fi series ran for one season with a total of 65 episodes. Set in a dystopian future, the show followed the heroic “Zone Riders” as they battled the villainous Overlord and his forces, who had taken control of much of the world using the mind-controlling Spiral Zone.

Known for its darker tone and serious themes compared to other cartoons of the era, Spiral Zone stood out with its unique mix of action, drama, and science fiction. While short-lived, the show gained a loyal fanbase and is remembered fondly by fans of 80s animated series.
