On this day September 11, 1987, the horror film The Curse, directed by David Keith, made its debut. Starring a young Wil Wheaton alongside Claude Akins, Malcolm Danare, Cooper Huckabee, John Schneider, and Amy Wheaton, the movie told the eerie story of a rural family’s terrifying experience after a strange meteorite crash contaminates their farm. Despite an interesting premise, the film had a production budget of $4 million but only managed to earn $1.9 million at the box office.

The movie became known for its creepy atmosphere and sci-fi elements, but ultimately struggled to gain traction with mainstream audiences. The Curse remains a cult favorite among horror enthusiasts for its unsettling themes and performances.

Fun Fact!

The movie was inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Colour Out of Space, adding a literary connection to its spooky narrative.
