On this day April 13, 1989, the 3rd Soul Train Music Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Hosting duties were shared by Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle, and Ahmad Rashād. Bobby Brown received the Male Album of the Year award, while Anita Baker took home the Female Album of the Year award.
