On this day, October 21, 1988, Tapeheads premiered in theaters across the U.S. Directed by Bill Fishman, the film starred John Cusack and Tim Robbins as two friends trying to make it big in the music video production business. Despite its quirky humor and the star power of Cusack and Robbins, the film was a box office flop, grossing only $343,000 against a $10 million budget. However, Tapeheads has since gained a cult following for its offbeat style and unique charm.

Do you remember watching Tapeheads when it first came out, or did you discover it later as a hidden gem in ’80s comedies?
