Who remembers this 80s hard rock song Stars? The history behind Hear N‘ Aid was to record a single that included famous rock and metal musicians and donate the money to help with the famine in Africa. Musicians included Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Blackie Lawless and more. It was recorded at A&M Studios on May 21 and 22 1985. They were able to donate one million dollars. It was for a great cause.

It took them two days to record Stars. Ronnie James Dio from the band Dio came up with the idea for this song. Artists such as Ted Nugent, Yngwie Malmsteen, and members of Blue Öyster Cult, Dokken, Journey, Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Night Ranger, Queensrÿche, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P., Y&T… and Spinal Tap were part of this song. Stars was performed live in 1986 after Dio performed in a concert at Southern California’s Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre on July 26, 1986. Some of those responsible for recording the song were there.

I didn’t know that Manny. Thank you for pointing that out.
