On this day, October 5, 1981, Depeche Mode released their debut album Speak & Spell! The album, featuring synth-pop classics like “Just Can’t Get Enough”, marked the band’s introduction to the music scene. Though it only reached #192 on the Billboard charts in the U.S., it was much more successful in the UK, peaking at #10. Speak & Spell laid the foundation for Depeche Mode’s future rise as one of the most influential electronic bands.

Who remembers the debut of Speak & Spell and its catchy synth sounds?
