On this day, November 19, 1982, Still of the Night premiered in theaters. Directed by Robert Benton, this psychological thriller starred Roy Scheider, Meryl Streep, Josef Sommer, and Jessica Tandy. The film combined elements of Hitchcockian suspense with a noir-inspired storyline about murder, obsession, and betrayal.

Despite its star-studded cast and a $10 million budget, the film only grossed $5.9 million at the box office. However, it remains notable for its atmospheric tension and the dynamic performances by Scheider and Streep.
