On July 25, 1986, Stephen King’s directorial debut, “Maximum Overdrive,” hit theaters. The film starred Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle, Laura Harrington, and Christopher Murney. Despite its $9 million budget, the movie grossed only $5.3 million at the box office.
