On June 27, 1986, the fantasy film “Labyrinth” premiered, directed by the legendary Jim Henson. The movie starred music icon David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah, a young girl navigating a magical labyrinth to rescue her baby brother. Despite its impressive budget of $25 million, “Labyrinth” grossed only $12.9 million at the box office, falling short of commercial expectations.

Fun Fact!
Although “Labyrinth” was not a box office hit upon its initial release, it has since gained a substantial cult following, appreciated for its imaginative storytelling, groundbreaking puppetry, and David Bowie’s memorable performance and soundtrack contributions. The film’s unique charm and artistic vision continue to captivate audiences decades later.
