On this day, October 31, 1988, Paul McCartney released his seventh solo album, Choba B CCCP, exclusively in the USSR. The album, whose title translates to “Back in the USSR,” was a collection of rock ‘n’ roll covers and was McCartney’s nod to the music that influenced his early career. The album eventually saw a release in the U.S. in 1991, where it peaked at #109 on the Billboard charts. Choba B CCCP was a unique release that showcased McCartney’s love for classic rock tunes while providing a special treat for Soviet fans during the late ’80s.
