On this day October 1 1982, Epcot officially opened its gates at Walt Disney World in Florida, becoming one of the most ambitious and innovative theme parks ever created. Originally conceived by Walt Disney himself as an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, Epcot was designed to celebrate human achievement, technological advancement, and international culture.
