On May 2, 1981, the educational sports series The Baseball Bunch premiered in syndication. Hosted by Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench and featuring Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda as “The Dugout Wizard,” the show was designed to teach kids the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and engaging way.
