On this day March 9 1987 Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam released the hit single Head to Toe. Blending freestyle and pop influences the song became one of the group's biggest successes topping the Billboard Hot 100 for a week from June 20 to June 26. It also reached number one in Canada and became a staple of 80s dance music.
