On this day On March 28, 1986, more than 6,000 radio stations worldwide simultaneously broadcasted "We Are the World" to support famine relief efforts in Ethiopia. This initiative raised over $63 million dollars.

Fun Fact: "We Are the World" has sold over 20 million copies, making it the 8th highest-selling single of all time. The highest-selling single is Bing Crosby's "White Christmas," with over 50 million copies sold.
