On this day March 21 1988 alternative rock band Pixies released their debut album Surfer Rosa. The album introduced the band’s raw dynamic sound blending loud quiet song structures surreal lyrics and punk energy. Though not a commercial blockbuster at the time it became one of the most influential alternative albums of all time.
