On this day March 21 1986 the BMX-themed sports drama Rad premiered in theaters. Directed by Hal Needham the film starred Bill Allen Lori Loughlin Ray Walston and Talia Shire in a high-energy underdog story about competitive BMX racing.

Rad followed Cru Jones a young BMX rider who dreams of competing in the Helltrack race despite obstacles from corporate sponsors and local rivals. Though it underperformed at the box office earning just 2 million against a 3 million budget the film later...
