On this day March 19 1987 the sitcom Roomies premiered on NBC. The series starred Burt Young as a gruff former Marine and Corey Haim as his young genius college roommate creating an odd-couple dynamic with plenty of comedic moments.

Roomies followed the unlikely duo as they navigated college life together with the veteran teaching life lessons and the prodigy bringing youthful energy. Despite its unique premise the show only lasted one season with eight episodes before being canceled...
