On this day June 21, 1988, synth pop group Information Society released their self titled debut album. Powered by a futuristic sound and cyber themed aesthetic, the album brought electronic music deeper into the mainstream with a sleek blend of dance beats and digital textures. It featured the breakout hit What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy), which sampled the voice of Leonard Nimoy and became a defining track of late 80s electronic pop.
