On this day June 20, 1980, the musical comedy Can't Stop the Music premiered in theaters. Directed by Nancy Walker and starring The Village People, the film was a glittery, disco-filled celebration of the era's music scene.

Despite its energetic performances and flamboyant style, the film was a critical and commercial failure. With a budget of 16 million dollars, it only managed to bring in 2 million at the box office. It later became known for inspiring the creation of the Golden Raspberry...
