On this day July 24 1983, one of the most infamous moments in Major League Baseball history occurred during a game between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Royals third baseman George Brett hit a dramatic two run home run in the top of the ninth inning, giving his team a temporary lead.
