On this day July 17, 1981, the romantic drama Endless Love premiered in theaters. Directed by Franco Zeffirelli and based on the controversial novel by Scott Spencer, the film starred Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt as two teenagers caught in a dangerously intense relationship. It also featured early screen appearances from Tom Cruise and James Spader, with Cruise making his film debut.
