On this day August 31 1982, Ronnie James Dio performed for the last time as lead singer of Black Sabbath during the Mob Rules Tour. The final concert took place in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, marking the end of a short but powerful chapter in the band's history.

Dio had joined the group in 1979, replacing Ozzy Osbourne and helping to revitalize Sabbath’s sound with a more melodic yet still heavy approach. His time with the band produced two standout albums, Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules...
