On this day August 12, 1983, Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 hit theaters, directed by Dick Lowry. The film featured Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Paul Williams, Pat McCormick, Mike Henry, and Colleen Camp, with a cameo by Burt Reynolds. Despite a budget of $9 million, the movie grossed only $7 million at the box office. Though it didn’t achieve the same success as its predecessors, the film remains a part of the iconic Smokey and the Bandit series.
