On this day April 17, 1987, Argus was released in Japan for Nintendo NES. Western audiences know it better as Rygar, a cult classic action-adventure game that quickly earned a fanbase for its unique gameplay blend and mythical storyline. Developed and published by Tecmo, the game offered a combination of side-scrolling action with RPG elements something that was still relatively fresh at the time.
