On this day, October 25, 1988, Kansas released their 11th album In the Spirit of Things. The concept album, inspired by the Great Flood of 1951 in a Kansas town, showcased the band’s progressive rock style and lyrical storytelling. Though it only reached #114 on the Billboard charts, the album is noted for its atmospheric sound and cohesive theme.
