On this day, November 27, 1981, the American slasher film Just Before Dawn premiered. Directed by Jeff Lieberman, the movie follows a group of hikers exploring a remote mountainous region of Oregon, only to encounter a relentless backwoods killer.

Starring Chris Lemmon, Gregg Henry, Deborah Benson, Jamie Rose, and George Kennedy, Just Before Dawn is noted for its eerie atmosphere and psychological tension. Often compared to Deliverance (1972) for its exploration of nature’s isolation and danger, the film has gained a cult following among horror fans for its unique take on the slasher genre.
