On this day, January 7, 1981, the horror film Scream was released. Directed by Byron Quisenberry, the movie follows a group of travelers who become stranded in a remote ghost town, only to be hunted by an unseen killer.

The cast included Pepper Martin, Hank Worden, Ethan Wayne, Ann Bronston, and Julie Marine. Despite its intriguing premise, Scream was met with mixed reviews due to its slow pacing and unconventional storytelling. However, the film has gained a cult following among fans of obscure 80s horror.

Fun Fact: While Scream shares its title with the iconic 1996 slasher film, the two movies are unrelated. Byron Quisenberry’s Scream predates the more famous Wes Craven franchise by 15 years.
