On this day, January 4, 1983, Eurythmics released their groundbreaking second album, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). The album propelled Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart into global stardom and remains one of the most iconic releases of the 1980s.

The title track, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), became an instant classic, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and solidifying Eurythmics as synth-pop pioneers. The album itself reached #15 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and soared to #3 in the UK. Other standout tracks included Love Is a Stranger and I’ve Got an Angel, showcasing their blend of haunting vocals and innovative electronic production.
